An eye-controlled, free communication software, based on artificial intelligence, to give a voice back to people suffering from neurodegenerative diseases.

HOW DOES IT WORK

Working Prototype: IGOOR is presented through an introductory video showcasing a prototype in a usage simulation.

Compatibility: The application works on Windows PCs or tablets and is integrated into the articulated arm of a wheelchair.

Eye Tracking: IGOOR is designed to be compatible with eye-tracking control, allowing users to control the mouse with eye movements.

Minimization of Communication Efforts: The application reduces the effort required to communicate by simplifying the sentence formulation process.

Synthetic Voice: IGOOR uses a synthetic voice to quickly pronounce the phrases formulated by the user.

To achieve this, we leverage the power of generative artificial intelligence to its fullest.

A natural and fluid dialogue

Voice Recognition: IGOOR translates into text the questions and phrases asked by a conversational partner, using its voice recognition technology.

AI Processing: The converted text is sent to a generative artificial intelligence, which outputs several possible responses, considering the context and the user’s biographical information.

Thought Prediction: The AI doesn’t just formulate a response but attempts to “predict the user’s thoughts” to provide appropriate answers.

Response Selection: The user chooses from the responses suggested by the AI, facilitating communication.

Personalized Speech Synthesis: Once the response is selected, the application vocalizes the answer in the user’s cloned voice, enabling a fluid and natural dialogue with the conversational partner.

We demonstrate this functionality in this video:

Everyday Needs

The user can also initiate a conversation about everyday needs. These needs are displayed on the screen, starting with the most essential, urgent, and recurring, always with the aim of reducing the fatigue associated with using eye-tracking control.

These needs are also editable and customizable through an internal interface.

Our Version of a Predictive Keyboard

Classic predictive keyboards, similar to those used on smartphones, enable faster typing by predicting a few subsequent words. Our predictive keyboard aims to predict entire sentences, again based on contextual information and the user’s biographical details.
